Organization Portfolio (Projects/Programs)

Since its inception, WEP-SS has focused on combating violence against women, promoting women’s participation, human rights, land rights, and overall women empowerment. Following the 2013 conflict, the organization developed a more structured set of intervention themes:

  1. Advocacy for Gender Equality, Women’s Rights, and Access to Justice

    • Focus on rights such as property ownership, political and social participation, non-discrimination, equal participation, education, and the freedom to choose a life partner.
    • Special attention to school drop-out girls and people living with disabilities, providing entrepreneurial skills to support their families.
  2. Protection, Awareness, and Support for GBV Victims and Child Protection

    • Raise community awareness on gender-based violence (GBV) and provide support to GBV victims.
    • Offer psychosocial support and establish safe spaces for children and other vulnerable groups.
  3. Food Security and Livelihoods

    • Address emergency food security and support food production initiatives like offseason vegetable growing and local seed production.
    • Support existing business initiatives, particularly those with a high proportion of female participation, with resources to advance their ventures.
    • Promote kitchen gardens to enhance nutrition levels.
  4. Research and Capacity Building

    • Engage in research through institutions and consultancies to develop evidence-based interventions.
    • Commit to capacity building for women, youth, and school drop-out girls by providing vocational skills that promote self-reliance.
  5. Peace Building and Conflict Management

    • Reinforce local peace-building initiatives and strengthen relations between host communities and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
    • Contribute to conflict management based on humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, equality, and inclusivity.
